Make your bathroom & kitchen more cosy with underfloor heating

If you’re looking to make your tiled bathroom feel cosier and warmer, there is no better option than to have underfloor heating installed under your tiles. Under tile heating is designed to warm up the floor, making it a cosy and inviting space, especially during those chilly mornings and colder months of the year. There is nothing worse than walking on a cold tiled floor with bare feet.

How does under tile heating work?

It’s simple – they consist of a thin layer of electrical wires that are embedded inside. You install the mat directly under your tiles, and the wires are connected to a thermostat that controls the temperature.

When you turn on the thermostat, the wires heat up, which warms the bathroom underfloor heating mat, and in turn, the floor. The heat radiates up from the floor, providing a comfortable and consistent temperature throughout the room.

The best thing about these devices is that you can install them under any type of flooring, whether it’s tiles, marble, hardwood and even some vynol flooring. This means that you don’t have to compromise on the look of your space to enjoy the com fort of heated tiles.

Can Heated Floors Warm Up Your Bathroom?

These mats are specifically designed to warm up your bathroom by heating up the floor. The heat produced by the electrical wires radiates up from the floor, providing a comfortable and consistent temperature throughout the room. If you want to enjoy a cosy heated bathroom floor, installing a heating mat is a great option! I do alway recomentd a heated towel radiator in bathroom to help try towels as there is nothing better that a warm towel when you get out the bath or shower.

How much does Heat Mat electric underfloor heating cost to run?

Another benefit of bathroom floor heating mats is that they’re energy efficient. They only use enough energy to maintain the desired temperature, so you don’t have to worry about excessive energy bills. Plus, they have a long lifespan and require minimal maintenance, making them a great investment for any homeowner.

It costs less than 10p to run 1m² of standard underfloor heating at full power for six hours. Although some people still expect underfloor heating to be expensive to run, the reality is that both the initial installation cost and the ongoing running expenses can represent great value for money.

An often underestimated factor in calculating your running costs is how well insulated the floor base is. Tilebacker Boards or Insulation boards can reduce heat-up times and increase energy efficiency. The faster the heat-up time, the cheaper the system is to run.

How much does underfloor heating cost?

Underfloor heating is relitivly low cost. You firstly need to purchase the undertile matting (the wires that war up) which is sold the the square meter, and the thermostat. The thermostate can vary in price depending on its function, ie smart conroled and link with google nest and other smart home thermostatas are more expensive than a standard thermostat. But for room which is 2m x 2m, less your bath and funiture and shower tray, but for this example would be 4m of flooing including a thermostata would be around £200 mark currently.

Finally, this type of bathroom floor heating also adds value to your home. This is a sought-after feature that can make this area of your home more attractive to potential buyers if you ever decide to sell. Can I fit underfloor heating in my exsisting bathroom or kitchen

Yes, is the basic answer, you will need to replace your flooring in your bathroom or kitchen to install the underfloor heating and replace this with a new floor surface. This may add extra thickness and height to your floor surface which could inturn effect plubing for your toilet and require adjustandlt of plnths on furniture or kitchen cupards and doors. You will also require an electrician and a way to access and electrical supply and a cuble to the thermostate to be ran. in cases where bathrooms are fully tiled, I would normall install the thermostat outside the bathroom thus not to damage any wall tiles. This will not effect the heating of the flooring as the thermosta prob is installed under the floor with the heating mat. The theremostat is a control unit and not an room theromstat so when its outside the room it will not effect the underfloor heating opporation.
