Bathroom Vanity Tops

Works tops or vanity tops in your bathroom can be constructed for many different materials. Traditionally they are constructed from a compressed wood construction wrapped in a laminate top, very much the same as a kitchen worktop. If you have the budget, stone and granite is also an option but is often four times the prices and requires a specialist team and fitting.

The beauty of a compressed wood worktop or bathroom vanity is that they are easy to cut with a jig saw or hand saw, holes for sinks can be easily cut out and worktop can be cut the size on the day of fitting, if small alteration have to be made to allow for an wall defects or plumbing issues.

The down side of a composite work top is the cut end require correctly finishing and if a sink is not correctly sealed worktops could swell do to water leakage. These are easy overcome by a professional fitted who will have experience sealing and finished board ends.

Composite wood vanity tops are available in a wide range of colours and finishes and from a wide range of manufactures including Multipanel by Grant Westfield.

Another alternative is buying bathroom furniture and units that have a pre-made vanity top. The advantage of vanity units are that the tops have already been cut to suite the base unit and sink holes are cut to match the units built in sink. This allows for sunken basins. The disadvantage of this is that if you have a long length of units all bolted together the over all look does not flow as join lines are apparent and the joins are areas for leaks. A good quality clean silicone will help solve this issue.

What ever you decided, a vanity top will add a new dimension to your bathroom.
